Meet Mrs. K
I am so delighted to have your child in my class this school year. I am looking forward to a fantastic year! I feel very fortunate to be doing something I love so passionately. With that being said I thought it would be nice for you to get to know some things about me. I graduated in May 2008 from Kennesaw State University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I recently received my Master's Degree from Kennesaw State in Early Childhood as well. I was born and raised here in Cobb County. I met and married my husband, Steve Kirkpatrick, in the early 90’s and have been married for 27 years. He also was born and raised right here in Cobb County. We have two wonderful children, Sydney our daughter is 25 years old and our son Seth is 21 years old. I am also fortunate to have a son-in-law as well; Charlie. Our daughter and Charlie got married this past summer!! We are very excited to have him as a part of our family!! Besides the day I met my husband, becoming a mother has been the most incredible thing to happen to me. They were my first students and they taught me everything I know. Steve and I are now empty nesters and enjoying this next stage in our lives together. We spend our time taking care of our dog, Riley. She keeps us on our toes daily!!! Throughout the year, you may hear about the many adventures in my household. I enjoy sharing stories with the children about my family. I feel that in doing so I am building a relationship with my students. I also encourage them to share about their lives. I want to develop a family here within our classroom. My philosophy is very simple: If we teach every child in a rich diverse learning environment and give them love, support, and positive reinforcement, each child will develop the skills to grow farther than they ever thought possible. This classroom is designed to encourage each student to go above and beyond. My students will apply their knowledge through projects, class discussions and cooperative learning groups. "To teach is to touch a life forever", and that is my goal.
